Already after two days of yoga holidays  we can observe how the participants begin to regenerate … how the face and the eyes begin to shine, the body becomes more erect and calm and how the personality makes a turn to the positive.

Yoga retreat in Austria

The word “yoga” means “unity” or “union” – of the body, the mind and the soul. A clearly structured daily detox routine, without alcohol, meat and ideally also without caffeine, helps you to let go of everyday life. It’s about the three “ation’s”: Relaxation, deceleration, recreation. The enormous whims and the excessive demands of today’s fast-paced rhythm make many people feel lost.

In these hectic times, yoga can be a source of quietude. A river into which you can step anytime to refresh and to cleanse. Just as the Alvier river beside our house. Physical exercises (asanas) train the mobility and the breathing techniques (pranayama) strengthen the immune system. Yoga enables you to face your inner self and think about your qualities.

The fresh mountain air and the mountain sun here in Brand help to fill our body cells with fresh oxygen and vitamin D especially in the dark, cold seasons. The YOGA meets YOU retreats at the VALAVIER active resort****S are suitable for ladies and gentlemen of every age. No matter if you are a beginner, advanced or expert: The exercises will be tailored to the individual levels of difficulty of the guests.

Nature and yoga in Brand: in the face of Austria’s mountains

A yoga lesson consists of warm-up exercises (sun salutation) and stretching exercises. This way, bodily tensions are released and strength, duration and flexibility can develop. During the deep relaxation phase which follows, your body and mind can effectively relax - a strong necessity for a healthy and powerful organism. The yoga instructors will help you with individual corrections and helping hands.

After the yoga retreat in Vorarlberg, all participants will receive further coaching in the form of yoga information, book recommendations & personal questions. The participants experience intensive, inspiring, unadulterated and, above all, authentic yoga days. Every day we will teach you interesting knowledge about yoga philosophy, a more healthy lifestyle, Yoga@Home, Yoga@Work, and so on and we will study the deep sense of yoga from a different perspective.

In our yoga courses we teach classic Hatha Yoga in lessons of 90 minutes, consisting of the sun salutation and 12 basic asanas (with variations), pranayama and relaxation techniques. Hatha Yoga is suitable for all levels (individually adapted) and can be begun anytime.

Mantras make us sensitive for sensations. They are a perfect way to focus your thoughts and to reach meditative states.

Authentic Hatha Yoga, meditation, yoga asanas and pranayama with relaxation

Make your joints more movable and stretch your spine in all directions. Every single asana is made for a special body organ which is massaged during the exercise. Back pains are relieved and a better posture is gained. It is part of the lessons to hold the asanas during several deep breaths and to vary them.

These exercises will let participants gain much new life energy (prana). Deep breathing during yoga will connect your body to its battery, the solar plexus, where enormous energy reserves are bound.

There are several levels of relaxation. Unfortunately, our society often does not take relaxation seriously and many people have to learn it again. The participants will feel relaxation consciously in our lessons and can completely relax again after a long time.

Our nutrition is an essential part of the yoga lifestyle: “You are what you eat!” Yogis therefore prefer a lacto-vegetarian nutrition. The consumption of alcohol, coffee, sugar, meat and fish stimulates the thoughts too much and it is recommended to avoid these foods and substances. Moreover, a yogi tries to eat less spicy and sweet foods as these foods stimulate the body and thus make it harder to calm the mind (e.g. when concentrating or for your own meditation).

In the everyday guided meditation lessons the participants will get to know different concentration techniques. Science has shown that regular meditation promotes good health and strengthens the immune and nervous system. People who meditate regularly are significantly more resistant, relaxed and concentrated.

is the way of actions and equivalent to the active temperament. Selfless actions without thinking of success or reward cleanse the heart and the ego. Karma Yoga is the best preparation for practising silent meditation.

is a yoga of devotion and equivalent to the emotional temperament. Prayers, worship and ritual help to shift one’s consciousness to the divine as an incorporation of love. Mantra chanting is an essential part of Bhakti Yoga.

is the science of physical and mental control. The asanas (yoga positions) and pranayama (breathing exercises) of Hatha Yoga are an important part of this path of yoga. The main practise of Raja Yoga is the silent meditation in which physical and mental energies are gradually turned into spiritual energies.

is the yoga of wisdom or knowledge. It is equivalent to the intellectual temperament. The analytic self-understanding of the Vedanta philosophy helps to search one’s true nature with the aim to find the highest self in yourself and in others.

At the end of the retreat, all participants have internalised the basics in a way that they can practise yoga at home in everyday life. The positive effect of a yoga retreat can often still be felt months later. Many participants change their everyday life afterwards and begin a much more conscious and healthy life.

Peter, a former yoga monk (Swami Keshavananda), was an interior architect for years and has fully dedicated himself to yoga since 1989. He lived in one of the biggest yoga organisations for 16 years and accompanied several thousands of students during yoga retreats and yoga instructor trainings. He is a certified Sivananda Yoga and Yoga Alliance (RYT) teacher. Peter’s many years of yoga experience become palpable when he pays sharp attention to how meditation and individual asanas are done. He corrects precisely and changes the course of his yoga classes when he sees that the participants need something else.

Samira has been practising yoga for many years and is a certified Sivananda yoga teacher and registered in the Yoga Alliance (RYT). She is a certified trainer for Nordic Walking and Swiss Bootcamp Training. Thanks to her many years of experience in sports training she immediately recognises strengths and weaknesses and can give precise support when practising asanas. Her way of teaching is precise, natural and empathetic. She regards yoga as an indescribable enrichment of her life and as a wonderful present to pass on to others!
